Sometimes I get a craving for a fruit crumble. I looooove fruit crumble. Usually the craving hits but alas I do not have the time or the desire to cook a full fruit crumble complete with stewing fruit and baking toppings etc...
I have a cheats version.
Here is a simple fruit crumble for when a baked dessert craving hits.
1. Chop up two types of fruit. I've used apple and some tinned peaches in natural juice. Using only two types of fruit is less work than chopping up heaps of different types, and allows for variety next time you want to use the idea.
2. Toast two or three of your favourite type of nuts. I've used flaked almonds, macadamias, and pecans. Just put them in a dry saucepan over heat to toast. Next, toast oats and any coconut or other seeds of choice.
3. Now place the fruit in a pretty pie dish and then just warm, not cook, the fruit in the microwave or oven.
4. Sprinkle the nuts and oat mixture over the top and drizzle 1/2 a teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of golden syrup over the top. Add some ground vanilla bean (optional).
